I am a mom on a mission. Currently, 90% of expecting parents that find out their unborn child has Down Syndrome choose to terminate the pregnancy. When we found out our daughter might have Down Syndrome, there was not much positive information about what it might be like to parent a child with cognitive disabilities.
I can tell you from experience that it can be a joy! We want to show the truth about these wonderful and amazing children. People with Down Syndrome are capable of so much and lead full, happy and quality lives.
Please help us on our mission to foster understanding for those who are "differently-abled." I am creating a documentary that focuses on the abilities and talents of people with Down Syndrome. The only DVD's currently on the market about children with Down Syndrome cover medical and learning issues only - not exactly upbeat. Nowhere is there a DVD that addresses the psychological needs of a parent, and informs people about all the things their child with Down Syndrome CAN accomplish.
